The Baltic Sea is one of the most popular vacation destinations for Germans. This includes many dog owners, as the coast is within easy reach for many, and the miles-long beaches, stunning natural scenery, and the sea offer dogs plenty of space to run around and explore.
Not only during the summer months, but especially during the off-season, you can enjoy carefree walks with your dog on the beaches of the Baltic Sea. From fall through spring, almost all beaches welcome you to take your four-legged friends for walks without restriction. In the summer, you’re limited to dog-friendly beaches; you can find the most beautiful ones along Wismar Bay here:
- Hohenkirchen – Wide sandy beach and gentle slope into the water
- Klütz – A sandy beach that’s easily accessible by car and has a gentle slope into the water
- Zierow – Centrally located sandy beach with shallow water areas
- Wohlenberg – The bay has shallow areas less than one meter deep and a long, flat sandy coastline with dunes.
- Boltenhagen Tarnewitz – A fine sandy beach in front of Boltenhagen’s beautiful cliffs – with beach chair rentals for a leisurely break
- Wendorf near Wismar – A sandy beach with a great view that’s easily accessible on foot or by bike. From the pier, you can see the entrance to Wismar Harbor.
