Dogs are generally considered part of the family, so naturally they can’t be left out of a family vacation. Even before the pandemic, one in five households had a dog. According to the German Kennel Club (VDH), the coronavirus pandemic triggered a veritable “dog boom.”
Getaways to recharge your batteries within your own country aren’t just trendy—they also offer those seeking relaxation and their faithful companions a hassle-free break. After all, aside from bringing a collar, leash, and food, all you need is a nice vacation spot with plenty of room to run around.
The Baltic Sea coast of Northwest Mecklenburg offers a place to relax—together with your four-legged friend. At the Bades Huk vacation resort, hospitality is an integral part of the holistic relaxation concept, which is why dogs are also warmly welcome! Here, you can unwind in a unique natural setting without sacrificing the highest level of comfort. Lovingly and elegantly furnished beach apartments with dune-facing terraces and outdoor areas, as well as the hotel located at the marina, offer not only fresh sea air and privacy but also services tailored specifically to the needs of dog owners.
Many dogs love to run into the waves at the beach. Here, select beaches offer the perfect spot. The centrally located sandy beach in Zierow, about a 30-minute walk from Bades Huk, features shallow water areas that provide ideal conditions for having fun with your four-legged friend. A wide sandy beach perfect for running around, with gentle access to the water, is located in Hohenkirchen. In Wohlenberg/Klütz, the bay features shallow water areas less than one meter deep, as well as a long, flat sandy shore with dunes. The distance from Bades Huk by bike is 9.4 km, or about 29 minutes. In front of Boltenhagen’s beautiful cliffs, you’ll find a fine sandy beach in Tarnewitz with beach chair rentals. You can combine the trip from Bades Huk there with a long bike ride; it takes about 48 minutes to reach (15.6 km).
The drive from Berlin and Hamburg takes about 2 hours, but you should still plan enough breaks so your dog can stretch its legs along the way. A long walk before the trip will ensure that your dog is tired and, ideally, will spend the trip napping in the dog crate.
The team at Bades Huk looks forward to welcoming dogs—and, of course, their owners!
